Bug List
1) Sometimes I would stay up pretty late and may feel hangry. But there's not really much restaurant offer delivery at late night. So the option is pretty limited.
Why: Not much people start late night restaurant. Most restaurants open during the day, they will be closed during the late night unless it's 24-hour restaurants. Also, it will be awesome if those Dining centers on Campus are 24-hour.
2)When I first time come to the U.S. I am not familiar with almost everything.
Why: There is not an instructor or someone lead me to experience American life.
3) I want to buy a shampoo but Walmart or Target is a little bit far from my dorm since I don't have a car. And I will not take an Uber there just for a shampoo.
Why: I didn't see something like Walgreens in Campus that we can buy stuff that we use daily. Maybe just because I didn't find one.
4) Working or doing homework not efficient sometimes.
Why: Don't know how to be efficient. Or need some motivation.
5) Every time we dump the trash in my dorm room I need to go downstairs.
Why: There is not a big trash can that would collect the trash on each floor.
6)The Games on Steam is pretty expensive, and not much discount going on.
Why: There is not a web that collects all the game discount or activities that would give free games.
7) It rains constantly and I usually forgot my umbrella.
Why: There is not a reminder to tell me that's gonna rain pretty soon. Since I usually forget to check the weather before I go out. Or there should be some umbrella station that will rent umbrellas or sell disposable raincoats that densely distributed in Campus.
8) Since I live in Jennings, every time I go to the bathroom I have to go through the hallway.
Why: There is not a bathroom in my dorm room. The solution for this one would probably be changing to an apartment but the apartment is much expensive.
9) I have to go to Fast Food Company to get food every day since I have a meal plan and it's the closest place to eat. Sometimes I am just too lazy to go hahaha.
Why: There is no delivery service for Dinning centers like GatorEats or something like that. Also, it would be awesome if the delivery fee could be included in the meal plan. lol
10) When I am thinking about starting a business, there's no place to find an ideal partner. We may know many people but not in every specific area.
Why: There is not a platform to know and meet partners that want to start businesses together.

Refection:
That's actually a pretty difficult challenge. I only got 10 Bugs that I can think of. There are probably more things bothering us but it is very hard to notice them. We just get used to them, so that we don't think that is a problem sometimes. However, this challenge is really awesome. I had some good business ideas that may be doable for instance the #7, #9 and #10.

ReplyDeleteI can only imagine how much of a culture shock it must have been coming to the United States. I am curious as to where you came from and how you like it here in Florida.
You made a very good point that it is difficult to find an ideal partner for starting a business. As you pointed out, we may know many people, but it is very likely that none of those people are good business partners to have. I would certainly be interested to see what type of service you might come up with to meet that need. I'm sure there would be a lot of complications with that entrepreneurial idea, but it is not outside the realm of possibility to exploit that unmet need.
For future assignments, I would recommend reading the instructions/guidelines very carefully. The instructions were to come up with 20 bugs so coming up with 10 only met half of that requirement.

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your list of bugs and realized how individuals in varying situations such as those who live on campus, or are foreign exchange students as yourself, face different types of bugs. Your bugs all seemed to focus on life on campus and how it can be improved through your eyes; your list all exhibited bugs that had potential for "opportunity" as discussed in this course.
Hopefully you are adjusting well at the University of Florida and can use these bugs you may face on a daily, alongside your past experiences as an advantage. With your bugs described above you have the ability to come up with solutions that we as American raised students, may not think of with the same mindset as yourself. I hope this assignment and course helps give you the platform to be able to experience what it takes to be an exceptional entrepreneur.
